How to design a bathroom remodel—and when to start.

Ensure the success of your bathroom renovation by working with an Eheart professional.

One of the best ways to maximize enjoying your space and increasing your home’s value at the same time is a bathroom remodel. A good remodel will fix any damage, wear and tear, save you space, increase your home’s value and usher this well-used room into the current decade.

Most people remodel their bathroom every 10-15 years. A good indicator it’s time for an update is when the bathroom is showing signs of damage like grout failing, mold/water issues, or a plumbing issue. That said, you don’t need damage to want a new look—with styles ever changing, we totally understand the desire for a cosmetic facelift.

Regardless of your reasons, our designers can help make your dream remodel a reality.

The best way to start is to reach out to Eheart Interior Solutions for a complimentary in-store consultation to discuss your project wish list and build a budget with one of our expert designers.

We will then set up a time to come to your home to take measurements and begin putting together a quote for your project, with a few different budgetary options for you to pick and choose from.

It’s wonderful to have a beautiful bathroom, but often the things that make up a quality remodel are behind the walls. Using excellent quality waterproofing systems and underlayments beneath your installed surfaces is a great way to preserve the life of your project for many years. Our designers will help you think through things like towel placement, storage, and safety features (such as grab bars). You may also want to include some luxuries, like a heated tile underlayment or bidet toilet seat—treat yourself!

From there, you’ll meet with your designer again to review the design and pricing in our showroom, and set up follow-up appointments as needed to refine the details. Once the details are solidified, orders are placed and the work will begin. Your designer and project manager will be with you every step of the way, coordinating design to installation and beyond.

Working with a design professional streamlines the process of having your bathroom remodeled, so you can focus on the fun parts and leave the heavy lifting to us.

3 Designs to Create an Elegant 4-Piece Master Bathroom Layout

You’ve probably heard of the 4-piece master bathroom, in this blog we show you how to create a modern and practical 4-piece bathroom layout by removing the bathtub. This master bathroom layout without the tub allows you to exchange the unused area for more creative space. Here are 3 practical ways to re-purpose your bathtub space.

4-Piece Bathroom Layout with Linen Closet

We removed the underutilized bathtub and created a more luxurious and sophisticated shower complete with a granite seat and glass wall. With additional space, we built a spacious, double-door linen closet. This design maintained a compact footprint by only structurally impacting the bathtub and shower areas.

Easy Fall Decoration to Rejuvenate Your Home

There are many easy fall decoration ideas to bring the warm colors of fall into your home this season. By coordinating small pops of fall color into your home or apartment’s color pallet across rooms, you can achieve an autumn atmosphere without completely turning your home into a sea of reds, yellows, browns, oranges and greens.

easy fall decoration

Living Room Interior Design
Make your living room a fall sanctuary by decorating with natural gords and pumpkin, either on coffee tables or on the fireplace mantle. The lively gords can range in color from red, orange, yellow, and brown and vary in sizes which help to accommodate your space (whether big or small). Because of their various sizes, pumpkins can act as a centerpiece on tables, or within prominent areas of your living room entryway. Adding these kinds of themed design elements into your living room are an easy fall decoration tactic to create an instant fall color upgrade.
We also recommend swapping the flowers in your vase with decorative maple leaves in mason jars. This design element helps to give your space a mixture of autumn colors with the cozy feel of mason jar décor. If you’re wanting to make the decorating process a craft for you and your friends and family, create your own leaf covered mason jar lanterns to add texture to a room. And since lighting can play a huge role in your living room design, we encourage upgrading lighting fixtures for the fall season. This can be done through placing fall themed lanterns in place of end table lamps.

Kitchen Interior Design
There are a few ways to subtly transform your kitchen for the fall season. Start by swapping your fruit holder for a wicker basket with a liner in a fall color. This easy fall decoration can already begin to make your kitchen feel welcoming for autumn.
Continue the trend from your kitchen into your dining space by investing in fall themed candlesticks to serve as a dining room table centerpiece and to pull in the soft lighting. Of course, an updated fall colored napkin or napkin holder, and appropriately themed glasses also work to tie in the theme.

Bathroom Interior Design
Soft lighting can help achieve a relaxed ambiance, so swap your current bathroom candles for those of orange and yellow hues. You can coordinate the colors of the candles with updated hand towels that speak to the interior design atmosphere you are interested in. Introducing a different soap scent that ties into the fall season is a simple method to energize your bathroom’s interior design for fall. One of our favorites is the method Fig + Rhubarb soap, not only for the smell, but also because the purple color adds a secondary element to break up the warmth of the reds, yellows, and browns.

When it comes to your home

When it comes to your home, flooring is important in each and every room you inhabit, but there are some rooms in your home that require more thought; the bathroom being one. Regardless of the room you are selecting flooring for, it’s always important to consider your budget, your style, and the flooring requirements of that specific room.

Big questions to run through are, “how does it look,” “how does it feel,” and “how well does it repel stains and water?” Once you can confidently answer those questions with your flooring options, you’ll be better able to select your new bathroom flooring!

A Big No

Carpet is the worst flooring selection for your bathroom, with hardwood being a close second. While hardwood brings a warm and polished look to your floors, over time the moisture will ruin the hardwood, making this a “bottom of the totem pole” choice. Save the hardwood for your kitchen!

Good

Laminate is easy to clean, durable, and available in various styles, but if the base comes into contact with moisture, the laminate will begin to bubble, and will eventually need to be torn out and replaced. If selecting laminate, just be cautious of excess water being splashed out of the bathtub by energetic kids!

Better

Vinyl, which is budget-friendly and extremely easy to clean and maintain, is the most popular bathroom flooring choice with consumers. While vinyl is waterproof and stain-resistant, keep in mind the importance of choosing a quality vinyl, as the higher quality products will be better able to reduce the risk of water seeping under.

Best

The best flooring option for your bathroom is tile. Durable, budget-friendly, waterproof, and stain-resistant, tile not only cleans well, but it also brings a classic look to your room. If you have children or elderly family members in your home, consider being cautious and choosing a slip-resistant tile. If options for slip-resistant are limited, go for smaller tiles, as more grout means less slip. One of the only downsides to tile is that it gets cold, especially in the winter, so if you have room in your budget, consider installing a floor heating system to keep your feet warm on the colder days of fall and winter!

Krazy About Kohler

I’d like to think Kohler would appreciate my attempt at a clever play on words, as I prepare to gush about colorful demi-lavs and apron front kitchen sinks. There’s so much I want to show our readers, and so much I want to say about Kohler’s history of design, quality craftsmanship and innovation. At Eheart, we’re excited to stand behind a company that values function and aesthetics equally, and does a phenomenal job at executing both. The designers recently enjoyed a presentation on an array of the company’s newest sinks, faucets and toilets (if it sounds boring, you’ll have to trust me when I say it wasn’t), and we can’t wait to implement these designs in your kitchens and bathrooms!

Behold, Jonathan Adler’s collection of bold, colorful sinks (for a limited time only):

Kohler Enameled Cast Iron: at least 80% recycled material, artisan-crafted in Kohler, Wisconsin. Won’t chip, crack or burn–guaranteed for a lifetime. Who wants to go on a factory tour with me?
