We love watching our residents and our communities grow as a whole and in honor of Earth Day, we feel that it’s important to give back in more ways than one.
Giving back to your community can be easy and fun. It doesn’t have to be time consuming, expensive, or tiring. For the animal lover, visiting animal shelters is one of the most beneficial acts of kindness you can perform. Whether you volunteer to help clean the cages that these animals are cooped up in, or simply play with the animals and provide companionship, it not only brings great joy to them, but it is an easy way to brighten your day.
Organizing a clothing drive to help those less fortunate in your area is another very simple way to give back. With the help of your family, friends, and neighbors, you can collect bags of clothing that you no longer wear and donate them to those that truly need clothes on their back.
Visit your local senior center or a hospital to spend time with the residents. An hour spent talking, playing games, going for a walk, or doing crafts, can bring tremendous amounts of joy to the residents. If you have a dog, check with the facility to see if bringing your dog to greet the residents is allowed.
And if you do want to celebrate Earth Day, head to your local park or go out into your neighborhood and take the time to pick up litter, plant flowers, and just bring a fresh look to your community.
