When it comes to your home

When it comes to your home, flooring is important in each and every room you inhabit, but there are some rooms in your home that require more thought; the bathroom being one. Regardless of the room you are selecting flooring for, it’s always important to consider your budget, your style, and the flooring requirements of that specific room.

Big questions to run through are, “how does it look,” “how does it feel,” and “how well does it repel stains and water?” Once you can confidently answer those questions with your flooring options, you’ll be better able to select your new bathroom flooring!

A Big No

Carpet is the worst flooring selection for your bathroom, with hardwood being a close second. While hardwood brings a warm and polished look to your floors, over time the moisture will ruin the hardwood, making this a “bottom of the totem pole” choice. Save the hardwood for your kitchen!

Good

Laminate is easy to clean, durable, and available in various styles, but if the base comes into contact with moisture, the laminate will begin to bubble, and will eventually need to be torn out and replaced. If selecting laminate, just be cautious of excess water being splashed out of the bathtub by energetic kids!

Better

Vinyl, which is budget-friendly and extremely easy to clean and maintain, is the most popular bathroom flooring choice with consumers. While vinyl is waterproof and stain-resistant, keep in mind the importance of choosing a quality vinyl, as the higher quality products will be better able to reduce the risk of water seeping under.

The best flooring option for your bathroom is tile. Durable, budget-friendly, waterproof, and stain-resistant, tile not only cleans well, but it also brings a classic look to your room. If you have children or elderly family members in your home, consider being cautious and choosing a slip-resistant tile. If options for slip-resistant are limited, go for smaller tiles, as more grout means less slip. One of the only downsides to tile is that it gets cold, especially in the winter, so if you have room in your budget, consider installing a floor heating system to keep your feet warm on the colder days of fall and winter!

Keeping Your Home Clean During the Winter Season

With snow and ice storms upon us, dirt, snow and salt are all being tracked into our homes. While snowstorms can be peaceful and beautiful, it has the opposite effect on your home and floors when it’s tracked inside by your family and friends.

Along with winter debris, dry, winter air affects both your health and your floors.  When humidity levels are low, contraction and gapping can occur in your floors, making it important to keep temperatures warm and dry in your home to prevent this.

To keep your floors clean and free of any scratches or rot, place doormats and rugs at every entrance in your home. This keeps most of the dirt and salt from entering your house, and leaves you with less of a mess to clean up. If kids or neighbors track winter debris past your entrance, sweeping and vacuuming regularly are a great way to keep up with the winter conditions.

Winter also affects the outside of your home, which can leave you victim to frozen pipes and no power. Make sure to always store an emergency kit in your home, consisting of flashlights, batteries, candles, non-perishable food, and plenty of warm clothing and blankets.

While your kids and pets enjoy frolicking in the snow, we have your home covered with our Resista cleaning products. Ranging from cleaning pads, powders and sprays, we have every cleaning product that your home needs to withstand the harsh, winter conditions.

Small Business Saturday isn’t only about driving sales for local businesses; it’s about the importance of our local businesses. Did you know that supporting your local, family-owned businesses actually stimulates the economy? This means that the money that you spend at local stores stays in the community, and also drives an increase in jobs for your neighbors and friends.

While you might think that a small purchase won’t have a big impact on the store that you’re doing business with, it actually does. Each purchase means that there is a better chance of the store staying in business, and it also increases the likelihood of growth for that store.
