The homeowners had been using a small portable island for extra workspace and storage, but due to the kitchen’s width, a permanent island wasn’t a feasible solution. Instead, Emily recommended transforming the space by replacing the full walls surrounding the staircase with half walls and adding an extra bank of cabinetry. This design significantly increased counter space and storage—perfect for the couple, who love cooking together.
To enhance both function and style, the kitchen remodel included durable melamine cabinetry with a painted look that’s easy to clean, paired with low-maintenance quartz countertops. A green glazed ceramic subway tile backsplash added a fresh pop of color, with a Blanco undermount sink and pull-down faucet provided everyday convenience.
By repurposing space from a hallway closet, we incorporated a pantry cabinet and expanded the workspace around the range. To complete the transformation, we installed vinyl plank flooring throughout, offering the warmth of wood with the durability needed for this pet-loving family.
